Prepare your website
What your firm website should cover before you add an assistant
The pages that matter first, and what to leave off.

An assistant can only repeat what your firm has written down. Before you add one, check that the questions visitors ask most have clear, current answers somewhere you control.
Start with the front desk
Ask whoever answers the phone and the inbox for the ten questions they hear most. For most firms these are the same few things, asked in slightly different words.
- Opening hours, including holidays and evenings
- Where you are, parking and how to get there
- What you offer, and what you do not
- Published fees, written exactly as you charge them
- How to book, change or cancel
- What to bring or prepare before a first meeting
Leave some things to people
Not everything belongs on the website. Anything that depends on a visitor's own situation, such as a personal quote or professional advice, is better handled by your team. Write down which topics those are, so the assistant hands them over every time.
Keep it current
Give each answer an owner and a date to review it. An out of date fee does more harm than no fee at all.
